HOW healthy are your cells
OMEGA-3 TESTING
We regularly test things like iron, vitamin D, cholesterol, blood sugar and thyroid function. But there is another aspect of nutritional status that is rarely measured: our fatty-acid profile.
Omega-3 fatty acids, particularly EPA and DHA, play important roles throughout the body. Rather than automatically adding another supplement, we can easily start with a baseline, use the results to guide the next step and track progress.
Your omega-3 status is measurable.
Why does THE BALANCE of fatty acids matter?
We tend to think about dietary fat in terms of energy, cholesterol or whether a particular fat is considered good or bad.
But fats have another important role: they are structural components of every cell in your body.
Every cell is surrounded by a membrane made largely from lipids (fats). This membrane isn't simply a protective barrier. It is a dynamic structure that needs the right composition and degree of fluidity to allow the cell to function and communicate effectively.
The cell membrane helps to:
allow receptors and other membrane proteins to function
enable cells to communicate with each other
regulate what enters and leaves the cell
transport nutrients and other substances into the cell
remove waste and other substances from the cell
And this is where omega-3 comes in
The omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA are incorporated into cell membranes, where they influence the physical properties of those membranes, including their fluidity and organisation.
So when we talk about omega-3, we're not simply talking about taking a fish oil supplement.
We're talking about the fatty acids that become part of the body's cells and tissues.
So how do we know where you're starting from?
This is where Zinzino comes in.
The Zinzino BalanceTest is a simple at-home dried blood spot test that measures your fatty-acid profile.
Using a small sample of blood from your fingertip, the test analyses 11 fatty acids and provides measures including your Omega-3 Index and Omega-6:3 Balance. From these measurements it calculates several markers, including your Omega-6:3 balance, Omega-3 Index and an index of cell membrane fluidity. Results are generally available within three weeks and include a 24 page report on your cellular health, sources of different fats in the diet and recommendations on how to adjust the ratios in your diet.
And if you choose to supplement, we can then retest after a period of time to see whether your omega-3 status has actually changed.
Someone who eats oily fish several times a week may have a very different omega-3 status from someone who rarely eats fish.
And even when two people take the same supplement, or eat a similar diet, their results don't necessarily start or finish in exactly the same place.
Test → intervene → retest.
Proven benefits of taking the Zinzino Balance oil
Why Zinzino BalanceOil?
Stability Index: Omega-3 fatty acids are highly unsaturated, which makes them particularly susceptible to changes (oxidation) when exposed to oxygen, heat or light.
When a fish oil oxidises, it produces unfavorable changes to the oil.
This is why the freshness and stability of an omega-3 product matter, not just the amount of EPA and DHA listed on the label.
For me, quality isn't simply about how much omega-3 is in the bottle — it's also about the condition of that oil when you take it.
What does What does the Balance Oil contain? Balance Oil+ combines marine omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA with cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, naturally occurring olive polyphenols and vitamin D3. The fish oil is derived primarily from small pelagic fish such as anchovies, mackerel and sardines.
Individualised dose: The amount taken is calculated according to body weight rather than using the same dose for everybody.
Other special considerations:
Algae oil for those with seafood allergies or who are vegan
Aqua oil for those who have had their gallbladder removed. This is a water soluble oil.
Tutti fruiti kids oil which has a high compliance in children due to the delicious taste.
